Rules & Etiquette

Do not grieve over what has passed unless it makes you work harder for what is about to come. – Umar Ibn Al Khattab , May Allah Be Pleased With Him

The CEMETERY and all GRAVESITES MUST be maintained at all times in accordance with the QURAN and SUNNAH and NOT based on personal or cultural traditions.

The Ottawa Muslim Cemetery Inc. persevered over 19 years to establish a Muslim cemetery to provide affordable burials based on the Qur’an and Sunnah. The tireless work of the organization and the dedicated members of the Muslim community resulted in the establishment of the first Muslim cemetery in Ottawa where families have laid their loved ones in their final resting place.

The Ottawa Muslim Cemetery (OMC) is a religious-based cemetery registered under the Islamic faith, with its provincial operating license based on Islamic principles. Burial rights, supplies, and services are exclusively for Muslims who testify to the Shahadatain (“There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His Messenger”).All visitors must follow OMC’s rules, regulations, and staff instructions at all times.
