The Expansion

Three phases to serve Ottawa's Muslim community

The Ottawa Muslim Cemetery has served as a vital part of our community for over a decade. With Phase I now fully occupied, providing space for approximately 5,000 graves, we are focused on expanding to meet the needs of future generations. Phase II is open and operational. Phase III is the next critical step.

Phase I

Foundation Phase

Ottawa’s first dedicated Muslim burial ground. Phase I provided space for approximately 5,000 graves and laid the foundation for all future expansion.

Phase III

Securing the Future

As Ottawa’s Muslim population continues to grow, Phase III will add another 4,500 burial spaces, ensuring that OMC can serve the community for decades to come. Phase III is not optional; it is a necessary step to guarantee that every member of our community has access to a dignified Islamic burial.

Phase II Infrastructure

What still needs to be done in Phase II

While Phase II is operational for burials, important infrastructure remains to be completed to ensure the long-term dignity and sustainability of the grounds. Community support is needed to complete this work.

1

Irrigation System Installation

A reliable irrigation system is essential to maintain the grounds with dignity throughout Ottawa's varied seasons, ensuring the cemetery remains green, peaceful, and well-kept year-round.

2

Landscaping & Beautification

Planting, pathways, and ground-level improvements to create a serene, peaceful environment for visiting families, consistent with the peaceful, reflective character of an Islamic burial ground.

3

Road Access & Parking

Improved access roads and parking facilities to accommodate visiting families, funeral processions, and the growing number of weekly burials as Phase II continues to fill.

How You Can Help

OMC operates entirely as a non-profit organisation and relies on community donations. Your support will complete Phase II infrastructure, enable Phase III development, and secure burial spaces for your children and future generations.
