The Ottawa Muslim Cemetery (OMC) is a religious-based cemetery registered under the Islamic faith, with its provincial operating license based on Islamic principles. Burial rights, supplies, and services are exclusively for Muslims who testify to the Shahadatain ("There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His Messenger").
OMC maintains a simple, well-kept environment that blends with nature. Graves are aligned so that the deceased faces the Qibla, precisely set at a 57° angle clockwise from True North.

The Ottawa Muslim Cemetery Inc. (OMC) was established as a not-for-profit, charitable organization to provide a dedicated burial space for the Muslim community in the Ottawa-Gatineau region.
Efforts began in 1994 to establish the first Muslim cemetery in the Nation’s Capital, addressing the growing need for Islamic funeral services. After years of fundraising and searching for suitable land, OMC acquired a property in 2005. By 2008, it was officially licensed and prepared for burials, ensuring that Islamic burial traditions are upheld for generations to come.
Today, OMC is a community-owned and operated cemetery, reflecting the dedication and patience of Ottawa’s Muslim community. With continued support through burial lot pre-orders and donations, we strive to expand and maintain this essential service.

The Ottawa Muslim Cemetery (OMC) is a religious-based cemetery registered under the Islamic faith. Its operating license, granted by the provincial government, is based on Islamic principles. As such, any purchaser or user of rights, supplies, or services offered by the Cemetery must be a Muslim who testifies to the Shahadatain (the declaration of faith: “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His Messenger”).
Yes. There is no cemetery in the area offering adult lots for less or offers the cost of a funeral for less. The cemetery is a not-for-profit organization registered as a charity. Charitable Registration No. 894375187RR0001
Yes. With a down payment of 20% of the total burial lot cost upon signing, you can pay the remaining balance by instalment over a maximum of 6 months for multiple lots purchase (4 maximum) . Payment Plan not available for single lot purchases.
OMC is a not-for-profit, charitable organization (Charitable Registration No. 894375187RR0001). Through donations and pre-ordered burial lots, we continue to develop and maintain the cemetery.
